Living Hallelujah

One of my favorite worship songs of all time never got much air time but it's a classic in my opinion. It's called "Living Hallelujah" by Sarah Kelly. The words are so much the cry of my heart.

I'll never forget the first time I heard the song. Amy and I were visiting the Vineyard and out comes Sarah Kelly for a special. The crowd cheered like she was a local legend but Amy and I had never heard of her. As she sang that song I was captivated...number one that Sarah was so caught up in worship. It was like she was the only one in the room and she was pouring her heart out to God. Secondly, because the words were so powerful. Enjoy. I've italicized my favorite parts and left you a note at the end.

Who am I?
That You came to earth for me
To die on a tree?
Who are you?
Son of man, Son of God
Yes, I believe it's true
More than words I bring to You
May all I say and may all I do be

CHORUS
Hallelujah, hallelujah
May everything about me be
Hallelujah to my King
Hallelujah, hallelujah
May everything about me be hallelujah
All of me
I surrender completely
Take control
I want all of You
So I'm letting go

I am healed and I'm forgiven
I am free because I'm living

CHORUS
It's all so clear, it's all so clear
I was born to worship
Hallelujah, hallelujah
May everything about me be hallelujah

Note: Hallelujah is one of those words we find in a lot of songs but many Christians have no clue what they are singing. The song is so much more powerful when you understand that the word hallelujah is Hebrew for "praise Yahweh or praise the Lord". So at the heart of this song the worshiper cries out, "May everything about me praise the Lord." How good is that!

I ran into that song on myspace as I was searching christian artists....that song had a profound affect on me as well. There are a few songs that bring such emotion to my being where all I can do is cry...not because I'm sad or anything like that....but more because that is how much I want EVERYTHING about me be Hallelujah to my King!
