Rainy Day Fund

I just finished paying my bills and getting my financial house in order and I find myself so grateful for what God has done over the last few years to prepare me for a time like this. At just the right time, God allowed Amy and I to partner with Dave Ramsey and Financial Peace University, and our financial lives have never been the same. The sobering reality of my current situation is that I could very well be unemployed until the middle of June and frankly, I'm not concerned one iota. The way I see it, God has been so good to me and my family and has allowed us to live debt free for the last couple of years, building up our emergency fund. It's nice to have a nest egg stored up when the rainy day comes (Don't tell anyone but it's not too rainy these days. I'm actually loving the time off. It's like a taste of retirement.).

That being said, I can't overemphasize the freedom that comes with a lifestyle that prioritizes giving generously and saving regularly.

I share this only to encourage those that aren't giving generously and who aren't saving for a rainy day. It's not a matter of "if" the rain comes, it's a matter of "when".

Well, I have thought about commenting lots of times on your blog but was too lazy to follow through. I guess now that you are moving and all I'll have to read your blog more frequently to keep tabs on you. (Plus Jason and Faith will want to see Em.) Keep in touch. You are loved! Oh, and I am glad you are enjoying your taste of retirement! You know teachers get summers off. HaHaHa! P.S. Craig says,"Yo!"
