Spontaneous Obedience

I had a neat experience today. A couple that has been attending GCC for some time scheduled an appointment with me to discuss baptism. I always love these types of meetings because I so enjoy hearing about peoples' spiritual journeys. Everyone has a story.

They talked, I listened and then we read some scripture. As we were reading about the Philippians Jailer and how he was baptized immediately after hearing and accepting the message about Jesus, this gentleman stopped me and said, "Immediately. Can I do it right now? Can I be baptized right now?" I smiled and told him certainly. So he and his pregnant wife followed me to the sanctuary where I baptized them in front of their four year old son. It was an awesome moment!

That is AWESOME!

It reminds me how Ricky got baptized as well. Those public baptism's are wonderful - but there's something about small, intimate baptism's too that you can really feel the Holy Spirit moving.....Matthew 18:20 "For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them"

Praise God for their obedience! We had a similar experience a couple of years ago. Our oldest daughter, who had been baptized as an infant, called to say she wanted to be immersed. So...I said what about tomorrow after services and she replied, how about tonight? So we rounded up the family and all met at GCC where Mickey had the great priviledge of baptizing her! AWESOME to see someone who is so ready they can't wait!

That was awesome. We had a older gentlemen except the Lord recently at our church and I was amazed to see Chris (my preacher) Cry. It was so moving to see how much he was moved by this older man coming forward. I have only been at this church for six months and in all this time we had not had someone come forward. All he could say was "this is why we have invitation every Sunday" Amen!
