Hungry Disciples

Wow! I just watched a short video clip from Damon Thompson at The Ramp, a youth gathering in Alabama. He stinkin' hit it on the head when it comes to discipleship and if you're in any type of leadership role you have to read this! In fact, I would prefer you watch it because I'm not sure just reading it will do. If you're feeling up to it, visit The Ramp site and on their video scroll, click on Damon Thompson. The clip is only a little over a minute but it rocks!

"Because I'm telling you friend, if you would meet Him (Jesus) we wouldn't need to put forty programs together to teach you to follow Him. As much as I believe in discipleship, most of us in here didn't properly get discipled. I try to tell leaders all the time, I can alleviate a lot of pressure from your life by teaching you that you cannot disciple people who do not want to be discipled regardless of how great your discipleship program is. And I can also teach you that you can't stop people from being discipled that want to be discipled regardless of how sorry your discipleship program is. That's not a license to have a sorry discipleship program but what it is, is a revelation that when you get ready and you get hungry and you get serious about standing in God's face, you don't have to have a thousand people in the room, you don't have to have the best youth building, you don't have to have the highest budget, you don't have to have the coolest music, you don't have to have relevant pastors, you don't have to don't have to have smoke and lights. When you really get ready to see his face, 'Early in the morning my song shall rise to thee...blessed are they that hunger and thirst for righteousness for they shall be filled...blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God...holiness without which no man will see God.'"
