I Have A Dream

I had an interesting conversation with a friend today. He told me about a co-worker that claimed God had given him the ability to interpret dreams. He went on to tell me that his friend had been noticably transformed by Christ but I could sense that my friend's "Christian Church" roots made it difficult to embrace his co-worker's supposed "gift". Naturally he asked me what I thought...

And then tonight as I opened my Bible to read and hopefully hear a word from the Lord I just so happened to stumble across Paul's vision in Acts 16:9. In this nocturnal vision Paul saw a Macedonian man calling for him to make the oceanic journey and help him.

My question begs answering. Has God ceased to use dreams and visions to communicate to His people or are we missing something? He did it in the Old Testament. He obviously did it in the New Testmament. He even continued to do so once the believers had been given the gift of the Holy Spirit. So is God still in the business of using dreams and visions or has our Western culture missed something?

Well, it's late and I'm still recovering from yesterday's move. I think I'm ready to hit the sack. Besides, I think I feel a dream coming on.

I too have had a dream. Then I had another dream. Then I had another dream. The problem is they ALL confuse me. Can God use a dream to help lead us in the right direction? Sure he can. The reason I know is that God can use me, and I am sure that God has an easier time crafting a persons dream than He does trying to get my stubborn tail to do what He wants me to. Does God still use dreams? I don't know. I have never had a dream that I think was God talking to me. I think that puts me in the same boat with most of American Christians. The thing is, I spend a lot of my time trying to get out of that same boat. So I don't know what God does with other people's dreams. I am sure that God wants to do more with my life than I let him many times and I don't want to limit God to what my small, created mind can understand.

I truly believe God sends people in our lives for a reason; and that includes one who is blessed with the ability to decifer dreams. I have experienced many of "weird" dreams, only to find those dreams, were the ones that helped heal my heart and soul, of deep hurts, and therefore gave me the ability to "get on, or get over it" as some people would tell me. OUR GOD IS AN AWESOME GOD, AND WORKS IN MYSTERIOUS WAYS.

SO, I BELIEVE, based on my own experiences, God answered my pleas of "help me", in my dreams. Just another one of God's miracles in my life.
