Transplant Theology

As I write this, a young man from our church is receiving a new kidney. He's been waiting for some time and yesterday his mom received the call.

Upon hearing the news, we all rushed to Children's Hospital in Cincy where the surgery would be performed and as we were waiting in Admissions, the mom's smile that had been on her face since the moment she found out, suddenly flat lined. She said, "Oh, this means someone has died."

She was right. The only reason her son was getting a life saving kidney was because someone had died. A sobering thought.

As I processed this, I couldn't help but think how many times we scurry about our day rejoicing in our abundant life in Christ and yet forget that someone died to give us that life. May we forever be grateful for Christ's sacrifice.

Get well soon Chris! Enjoy that Dr. Pepper float.
