Dirty Little Secrets

Hats off to Southland Chrisitan Church in Lexington! They are conducting a three week series on sexual purity and pornography called "Dirty Little Secrets". This past Sunday they even brought in Craig Gross from XXXchurch.com. This is a topic many churches want nothing to do with but they are desiring to tackle. Kudos. You can catch their services every Sunday at 10am on channel 36 out of Lexington. They air a week behind so the series actually starts this Sunday. Below is a piece from their site.

“I can look as long as I don’t touch.”

“It’s just a few harmless pictures on the Internet.”

“What my wife doesn’t know won’t hurt her.”

“You can't talk about that in church.”

We will tackle the issues many churches aren’t talking about—issues that devastate individuals and families. Join us as we examine God’s Word to find clear directions for living in purity, no matter how many “dirty little secrets” we have in our closets.

I think the absence of comments about this particular blog speaks volumes to how people relate with this subject. It is not an easy subject, one that is very clandestine in the church and amongst its people. However, it must be addressed and Christians need not judge those or condemn those who are suffering with these types of addictions. Christians need to be ready to deal with it, love those who suffer because of it, and proclaim that victory over it is only through Jesus Christ.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU CAN'T TALK ABOUT THIS IN CHURCH! I THOUGHT CHURCH IS WHERE YOU COULD TALK ABOUT ANYTHING AS LONG AS GOD TOOK FIRST PLACE IN THE CONVERSATION...

I attend the post college age service this past Thursday night at Southland. They are going to continue the series in this weekly discussion group. Everyone was so open about the subject and the table I was at had a great discussion. Though I sometimes find it hard to discuss the subject with people who I know are non-believers, it was so great to be in a place where talking about it open and honestly was a way to learn from others as well as learning to forgive and love those who have a "dirty little secret" I am pretty excited to see what is in store for this Thursday!
