Barn What?

Well, I've been officially married for two weeks, my first week of ministry at GCC is behind me, I figure, let's build a house:) You think I'm kidding. We've been presented with an idea that we're liking a lot. More and more people are taking old barns (built in the late 1800's, early 1900's), using their infrastructure and converting them into pretty cool homes. There is an old barn that we're considering purchasing that was built during the Civil War. It can be converted into a spacious home and can give us quite a home for the money. We spent most of the day on Friday looking at some local barns and even a beautiful barn home in Corydon, Indiana.

We've been praying our way through this housing situation and we will not move unless we have the Lord's blessing, but right now, we're pretty stinkin' excited about the possibility of building our dream home for less than we could purchase a four-bedroom home in Floyd County. Please pray for us and if you know of anyone willing to sell an acre or two in Floyd or Harrison County please let us know. The availability and affordability could be a deal breaker.

Steve's brother Ben did this Chad. He lives up in Corydon area. If you all want to look at it on Saturday, we are coming up for a visit. Let me know! He's taken several years to do it, but it's a great house.

WOW! HOW AWESOME.

the only problem with that is when your kids leave a door open and you or Jennifer yell at them and say "Were you raised in a barn?" They can honestly reply that yes, they were. So as long as you don't mind closing doors behind your barn raised kids, I think it sounds pretty sweet.

Sounds like the beginning of a Jeff Foxworthy bit.....You might be a Hoosier if you wash your dishes in a converted pig trough.

Honestly, sounds too cool and something I always wanted to do growing up. But don't tell Jana.

Hey this is actually mike's wife...mandy. I have never meet you but mike and I have a life dream of doing that. There is a store in Findlay ohio that did this. There is also a link where you can buy old barns for under $2,000. There is also a company in PA that will move and set up the barn for you. Good luck.
